For My Children, upon Beginning a New School Year

mem

O how love I Thy law! it is my meditation all the day.
Thou through Thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation.
I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts.
I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep Thy word.
I have not departed from Thy judgments: for Thou hast taught me.
How sweet are Thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!
Through Thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.

Psalm 119:97 – 104

For my beloved ones, I pray that you will take heed to that which the psalmist said 3000 years ago, for it is still so very true today.

Upon beginning this new year at a new school, I pray that the school of first importance, that of the Word of God, will reign supreme in your hearts and your minds, even as the philosophy and vain deceit of the world will seek to establish a foothold and win you over.

I have no doubt that there is a world before you, and that all that the school is offering is in their minds the very best that this world has to offer.  There will be a true desire to educate you in the ways that will make you wise according to the best wisdom of this world, but remember that it is the fear of the LORD that is the beginning of wisdom.  The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God, and the world by its wisdom did not know God.

This is true whether the school is public or private, religious or secular.  This is also true, whether it is actually a school, or anywhere that learn, whether media, books, or art;  whether online or in print.

The psalmist took heed to the Word of God to him, and that is in the Law of the LORD given through Moses.  For you, dear ones, the Word of God to you is the preaching of Jesus Christ according to the revelation of the mystery given to you by Jesus Christ through the Apostle Paul.  While there are so many things that you must learn and know, let me leave you with these that you may ponder them in your hearts:

Colossians 2:6 – 10 — “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him: Rooted and built up in Him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in Him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power…”

Colossians 1:18 — “…that in all things He might have the preeminence.”

2 Timothy 3:14 – 17 — “But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

2 Timothy 2:1 — “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:15 — “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

1 Corinthians 15:1 – 4 — “Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures…”
