About

This page is a collection of Bible study notes and articles for the purpose of knowing our Lord Jesus Christ in all His fullness and glory.  We seek to understand the scriptures in this order:

  1. What does the Word of God say?
  2. What does Word of God mean?
  3. How does the Word of God apply?
  4. How does the Word of God apply to me?

Answering these questions in the proper order is critical to properly reaching the answer to question number 4 above.  We in no way seek to contextualize anything for the sake of putting it away from us, but for the sake of proper understanding.  Paul wrote to Timothy and told him to study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  Some have characterized this rightly dividing the word of truth as chopping apart the scriptures so that we have nothing left.  It is nothing of the sort.  We rightly divide or cut straight the truth.  We separate the truth from error.  We understand the words that are said, the context that they are said, to whom they are said, by whom they are said, and to what purpose they are said.  God did not put together a book of jumbled thoughts, but a book of purpose that can be understood.  By this proper understanding, we put away from us any need to change clear meaning of words and sentences to make them to fit our preconceived understanding.  We do not seek to conform the Word and the words of God to fit our understanding, but we ever seek to conform our understanding to the Word and words of God.

The principle where I stand is in the literal interpretation of the scriptures.  God meant what He said and He said what He meant.  God called the holy apostles and prophets to speak His words, and did not leave them to be vague ideas that we would conform to ourselves.  They are exact and timeless.  When God’s Word is properly understood, it will add so much to our understanding of our wonderful Lord.  This is true even if the primary application of them is not to us.  There is one Lord Jesus Christ, and the entirety of scripture is summed up in Him.  He and He alone is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End.  All praise and glory is due to His glorious Name.

  1. Chuck, your words resonate within my heart! “The principle where I stand is in the literal interpretation of the scriptures. God meant what He said and He said what He meant.” This is exactly my firm conviction and how I define the sovereignty of our great God! Looking forward to reading and learning with you, brother!

  2. In my mid eighties and one day, sooner rather than later, and at moment known to almighty God , I shall be absent from the body, present with the Lord. I wait with sureness having the knowledge that all scripture is given by inspiration of God.This positive attitude is only possible by absorbing the teaching guided by the Holy Spirit. The divine spirit cannot teach any other place, in any other book, than the scripture in the Holy BIBLE. When the truth is distinguished and written, as here, it is helpful and the new person in Christ can grow from a babe in christ through adolescence to maturity Just as the disciples did as they were called out of the world and ministered to by the Lord himself.
I am a poor man in a worldly sense. One of a family of 11 children. I say it only to advise readers that even people of low estate can read and grow and receive that peace which passes understanding. So I can, after a lifetime influenced by biblical truth, but not always obedient to it, commend distinguishing truth to one and all.. praise the Lord.

  3. Greetings in the name of the Lord,

I truly believe in what you have stated. God’s Word which is revealed to us through the Power of the Holy Spirit, shall teach us, and apply it to our hearts, not by human reasoning of the mind, but through the Power of the Holy Spirit. After all God’s word is Spirit, and when born-again by His Spirit, He shall teach us through His given teacher the Holy Spirit.
The Lord and His Apostles did absolutely nothing without the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and only did preach the Word with Power from the Holy Spirit.

Your statement is very true “We do not seek to conform the Word and the words of God to fit our understanding, but we ever seek to conform our understanding to the Word and words of God.”
All by and through the Power of the Holy Spirit according to God’s Will and for His purposes. May we all learn to walk in the Spirit of the Word, not just in the letter of the word.

Joh_3:8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Joh_4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Joh_16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
Rom_2:29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.
Rom_8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Rom_8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
Rom_8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Just a few to support what I’ve attested to you, as a response to your words, which are true.

    Lord bless you….
    In His Love….
